Your Egyptologist guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo in the morning to begin your 2 Day Mount Sinai and St Catherine Tour. Travel by a private, modern, air-conditioned vehicle toward St. Catherine, following part of the historic route associated with the biblical Exodus.
The drive from Cairo to St. Catherine takes approximately 6–7 hours. Along the way you will pass through the Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel in the Suez Governorate, traveling beneath the Suez Canal as you make your way into the Sinai Peninsula.
There will be a short stop during the journey where you can stretch your legs, have a drink and relax before continuing your Mount Sinai tour from Cairo. If open, we will also visit Moses' Wells a site traditionally associated with Moses and the Israelites. Your guide will share the historical and religious traditions surrounding the Exodus and discuss the possible routes taken by the Israelites through the Sinai Peninsula.
Upon arrival in St. Catherine, your guide will assist you with a smooth hotel check-in. Enjoy some free time to rest and relax before your early-morning climb of Mount Sinai. Dinner will be served at the hotel, followed by a break before the night's adventure.

Wake up in the early morning to begin your climb of Mount Sinai one of the most significant religious sites in the Sinai Peninsula. After reaching the summit enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains before descending to continue your tour.
Return to the hotel for breakfast then visit the historic St. Catherine Monastery, one of the world's oldest continuously operating Christian monasteries. Inside the monastery, you will see the Burning Bush, surrounded by a small chapel traditionally associated with Queen Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine.
You will also visit the Church of the Transfiguration, built during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The monastery is also home to an important historic library containing a remarkable collection of ancient manuscripts, although the library itself is not open to the public.
Your professional guide will also show you the mosque located within the monastery and explain its history and significance. According to historical accounts, the mosque was never used for regular prayer because of concerns about its orientation toward the Qibla.
