Day 2: A Visit to Lahun and Medium Pyramids
Day 2: A Visit to Lahun and Medium Pyramids
The following day, after having breakfast, we will visit the most famous and unusual pyramid in terms of its shape, the pyramid of Lahun. It was constructed on an existing limestone hill, which served as its base and core, reaching a height of 12 meters, thereby reducing the amount of labor needed for its construction.
The entrance of the pyramid led to several complex tunnels that encircled the burial chamber, designed in a unique way to mislead potential thieves.
The king's sarcophagus was made of light red granite and was discovered within the burial chamber.
After exploring the pyramid of Lahun, we will visit another pyramid known as Meidum. It is the first pyramid built during the ancient Egyptian Pharaonic period and was shaped like a square. It is believed that it was never fully completed and is considered the first true pyramid.
Once we finish our visit, we will have lunch and then return by car with the driver to Cairo International Airport once again.
I hope your trip is enjoyable and that you create lasting memories from your Egypt day tours.
