This daily Colored Canyon and Mount Sinai Safari tour will take you to one of the most significant landmarks in Sinai. You will be transported in a private 4-wheel drive vehicle to Saint Catherine Monastery, a Greek Orthodox monastery situated in the heart of the Sinai Peninsula. The monastery is located at an elevation of approximately 1570 meters above sea level and stands at the precise site where Prophet Moses is believed to have seen the Burning Bush. The monastery was constructed in the town of Saint Catherine, at the base of Mount Sinai, also known as Jabal Mossa, where Moses received the Ten Commandments.
The monastery has historical roots dating back to the sixth century during the reign of Emperor Justinian I. It was later named after Saint Catherine in the eleventh century in recognition of her status as a Christian martyr from Alexandria.
Your journey then takes you through the desert to explore the Colored Canyon, a narrow and winding valley where layers of colorful rock have been shaped by erosion into striking patterns.
It is a popular spot for short walks, photography, and exploring the narrow walls.
As you continue, you will pass through Wadi Watir, one of the most scenic areas of the Sinai Peninsula, linking Nuweiba with Nakhl.
The route leads to the Colored Canyon, a geological marvel of Sinai, famous for its walls displaying a wide range of colors. The canyon's walls are adorned with mineral veins that create intricate lines on the sandy and limestone formations, resulting in hues like crimson, orange, silver, gold, purple, red, and yellow.
The tour concludes with a return to Sharm El Sheikh, specifically to Nuweiba, where you will have an hour to swim in the beautiful Aqaba Bay.
Afterward, you will be driven back to your hotel.
