Your Private Day
Day 1

Day 1: arrive Siwa.

To ensure you have sufficient time to explore Siwa during the day and prepare for the next day, you will leave Cairo early in the morning to start your journey to the Siwa oasis.

Your tour guide will collect you around 5 am, or later if you prefer, and you will begin your drive towards Siwa.

The route will take you through Alexandria to Marsa Matrouh, where you will have lunch by the Mediterranean Sea. The sea's striking color changes make this location quite special, and it is believed that Cleopatra once enjoyed the calm waters here.

After lunch, you will continue your journey to the Siwa oasis, arriving just before sunset, depending on traffic conditions.

Once in Siwa, you can relax, take a stroll, enjoy the start of a cultural performance, or spend the evening exploring the city center.

You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Day 2: Siwa oasis safari trip

After enjoying a very calm sunrise, you will have breakfast and prepare for a visit to El Dakroor Mountain before heading out for a safari. Following this, you will embark on a jeep safari journey into the desert to escape the stress of everyday life. Your safari guide will lead you through vast sand dunes and deep stretches of the desert in a 44 Jeep.

It is important to observe the unique desert wildlife and plant life.

You will also have the opportunity to try sandboarding and other fun activities. Our team will provide guidance to help you make the most of your camera and capture the most memorable moments of your trip to the Siwa desert. You will then enjoy a delightful dessert and Bedouin-style dinner at a place called Bir Wahed, which has regional decor.

Next, you will travel to the area where salt is harvested from the salt lakes in Siwa.

This salt is known for its therapeutic and stress-relieving properties. The saline water in the lakes is believed to offer natural benefits for the skin, sinuses, and eyes. It also makes it easy to relax by floating on your back while reading a book. As a result, Siwa is now mainly supported by the recreation and medical tourism industries. The hot and cold springs at Bir Wahed were discovered by accident.

Just a few kilometers away, slowly growing in the middle of the Great Sand Sea, this oasis attracts visitors from around the world who come to cool off in the freshwater pool after soaking in the naturally occurring hot springs.

It is a simple and natural form of therapy.

You will visit Cleopatra Spring, a rocky pool that receives cold freshwater from a nearby spring.

You can immerse yourself in this lovely water to relax and recharge for the day. One of the highlights of your Siwa oasis expedition is watching a breathtaking desert sunset while walking barefoot. This spring is also surrounded by impressive green palm trees. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a barbecue meal featuring grilled meats, fresh salads, delicious Siwian food, coffee, and dates, all served in a camp designed in a traditional Bedouin style.

Day 3

Day3: Historical sities in siwa

After breakfast, we’ll head to your hotel, where you can relax before heading out for a delicious lunch. One of the highlights of your Siwa oasis tour to the vast sand sea is walking on the dunes with your bare feet while enjoying a stunning desert sunset. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a barbecue meal featuring grilled meats, fresh salads, delicious Siwian cuisine, coffee, and dates at a camp that is built in the traditional Bedouin style.

The Mountain of the Dead, also known as Gabal Elmwata, is a small hill located at the northernmost part of Siwa Town.

It is covered with impressive wall paintings and contains numerous rock graves. This place is also called Gebel al-Mawta, meaning the "Mountain of the Dead." Most of the tomb construction in this area was done during the 26th dynasty, as well as the Ptolemaic and Roman periods. During World War II, when the Italians attacked the oasis, the Siwans took shelter in these tombs.

Next, we will visit The Stronghold of Shali, a mud-brick fortress built in the 13th century that once served as a home for the Siwa people.

The structures, made from salt, mud, rock, and plaster, have deteriorated over time, even though some of them are still in use today.

Our next stop will be the Oracle Temple, also known as the Aghurmi or Amun Ra Temple.

This was the site of Alexander the Great's first expedition into Egypt, and he visited the Greek-built temple of Amun Ra.

We will also visit Fatnas Lake.

There are two ways to reach the small island of Fatnas at Birket Siwa: by bicycle or on foot. To the west, the hills of Jabal Beida and Jabal Hamra offer breathtaking views, making them a wonderful place to relax and watch the sunset over the lake. As you stroll through the park, you may see various types of beautiful trees, including banana, palm, and olive trees. After that, you will be taken to your accommodation or hotel.

Day 4

Day 4: drive back to Cairo

Before heading to Cairo, you have the option to spend more time in Siwa. It's also recommended to sample some of Siwa's famous dates, olives, jellies, and syrups. Additionally, you can explore therapeutic herbs that help with stress relief, traditional teas, well-known lamps, and items made entirely from the salt found in Siwa's salt lakes.

Egypt Day Tours FAQ

Quick answers for travelers comparing Egypt day tour categories, private guides, pickup details and custom plans.

What is a desert safari tour in Egypt?

A desert safari is an adventure through Egypt’s desert landscapes, typically by 4x4 vehicle, quad bike, dune buggy, or camel. Tours may also include sandboarding, Bedouin-style meals, sunset views, camping and stargazing.

Where can I go on a desert safari in Egypt?

Popular destinations include the White Desert and Black Desert, Bahariya Oasis, Siwa Oasis, Fayoum, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Dahab and Nuweiba.

What is the best desert safari in Egypt?

It depends on your interests. The White Desert is ideal for dramatic rock formations and overnight camping, Siwa offers the Great Sand Sea and a more remote oasis experience, while Fayoum is a convenient option for a desert adventure close to Cairo.

Can I take a desert safari from Cairo?

Yes. Bahariya Oasis is about 370 km southwest of Cairo and is one of the closest gateways to Egypt’s Western Desert. Fayoum is another popular desert destination that can be reached relatively easily from Cairo.

How long does a desert safari tour take?

Desert safaris can last a few hours, a full day, overnight or several days. White Desert excursions, for example, can range from short trips to journeys lasting up to 10 nights.

Can I go sandboarding in Egypt?

Yes. Sandboarding is available in destinations such as the White Desert, Bahariya, Fayoum and Siwa's Great Sand Sea.

Are desert safari tours suitable for families?

Many safari experiences can be enjoyed by families, but age and safety restrictions may apply to activities such as quad biking, dune buggies and camel riding. Check the requirements with your tour operator before booking.

What should I wear on a desert safari?

Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing and sturdy shoes. Sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat or scarf are also recommended. For overnight trips, bring a warmer layer because desert temperatures can drop after sunset.

Is a desert safari in Egypt safe?

A desert safari should be arranged with an experienced, licensed guide or reputable tour operator familiar with the terrain. Egypt's official tourism guidance also recommends checking whether the destination is open and whether permits or special arrangements are required before traveling.

Why should I choose a desert safari in Egypt?

A desert safari offers a different side of Egypt beyond its ancient monuments and cities. You can experience vast sand dunes, unique rock formations, oases, traditional desert culture, adventure activities, spectacular sunsets and clear night skies in one trip.
