Old Cairo

This area is notable for its connection to the three monotheistic religions: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.It includes the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque, which is the first mosque in Egypt and Africa, and the fourth to be built in the Islamic world.The area also features the Church of the Virgin Mary, commonly known as the Hanging Church, along with several other churches.

The Khan al-Khalili neighborhood has inspired many Egyptian writers, including the famous Naguib Mahfouz.

Al Muizz Street is currently considered the largest open museum of Islamic antiquities in the world.
