Your guide picks you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in the morning, and we drive to Saqqara, about 30 minutes away. We begin at the Step Pyramid. Your guide tells you about King Djoser and Imhotep, who designed it, and then we walk to a few tombs nearby. The walls inside have painted scenes of farming, fishing, and daily life. After Saqqara, we drive back into the city to Islamic Cairo. First stop is the Mosque of Ibn Tulun. It has a huge open courtyard and an unusual spiral minaret, and you can walk around and take your time. The Gayer-Anderson Museum is next door. It's two old houses joined together and filled with furniture, carpets, and carved wooden screens, collected by an English officer who lived there. Have a look around, and then we take you back to your hotel.
