Next visit the Citadel of Saladin, one of Cairo important historical landmarks. Explore the fortress and see the Mosque of Muhammad Ali also known as the Alabaster Mosque, built in the 19th century by Muhammad Ali Pasha and influenced by Ottoman architecture.
The Citadel itself dates back to the 12th century, when it was established by Salah al-Din (Saladin) as part of Cairo’s defensive system.
